For those who don’t know yet, manhwa (I’ve read other spellings, but let’s use this one shall we?)  is what manga is to Japan, but to Korea, so Korean manga, ok? Usually comes in the form of webtoons, a popular reader is Lezhin.

Now, there are many genres, a LOT of BL or boy love, yaoi for Japanese, I don’t like dudes kissing and doing stuff to other dudes, but a lot of people like that, I am reading though this one called “Killing ,stalking” which is about…well this dude stalks this other dude, a super hot guy apparently, tall, strong, popular, the stalker dude is skinny, plain dude. So the taller one is yes, a serial killer, from there on it’s all a weird co-dependency and some sexual abuse and more murder so..it’s not for everyone, nor it is a love story, but it’s well written.

But that’s not why I am writing this, I am writing about, GL of course, or girl’s love, aka Yuri in all it’s Korean glory. I’ll share some of my favorite titles BUT, I have to clarify that some of them might be Thai (such as the work of Ratana Satis) or Chinese like Tamen de gushi but they haven’t so many titles to make their own category so bear with it.

I’ll say it again, what I like the most is the slow pace they all usually have, it’s not confess and earth shattering love making 5 minutes after, no sir, it generally takes several dates before, lots of small things and hotter and hotter moments that finally lead us (well,them) to the action, also usually, once they get to that point, they seem to do it a lot too,  but always keep doing cute stuff and watching movies and eating together and all that stuff that I love.

Without further ado and in no special order:

What does the Fox say? – Team Gaji  – Korean

I think this was one of the very first ones I read, here is the official synopsis for it “Seongji joins a mobile game developer Hello Studio. From the crowd of reluctant, casual acquaintances, one person stands out. Direct, no-nonsense, and short-tempered, but occasionally the damsel – her team manager Sumin…Alluring artwork and a shocking plot twist!” it’s long, it took a lot to be completed, but it finally ended AND there is a spin-off bleh and a continuation on our main girls coming too! I am so much looking forward to it. Out of all the titles, this is the one with the most sex, lewd scenes, just so that you know, it’s not hentai level, but there’s nude, nude bodies doing lewd things and making love and omg don’t read at work.

Also from Team gaji Pet’s aesthetics – Korean

There is a cameo of blondie and black haired girls from WDTFS ,so that is already a good sign, this one isn’t so much romantic though, but it’s still nice art. It’s short and the end is quite…eh? fuck off lol, but you may not dislike it.

 

Now we move to Miss angel and Miss devil by MAEU Malgeum – Korean

 

I believe she’s a woman, now this story is about angels who don’t behave as such and devils who are kinder than them, it’s really fun and interesting.  The angels are more perverts than the devils hahaha, it’s really good and it is ongoing.

 

 

Mage & Demon Queen by Color_LES – Philippines

This is so good, the entire setting is like a damn MMORPG, there are quests, a guild, mages, knights, and levels on the castle, the final boss is, yes, the demon queen, but the fun part is that Malori (?) the mage, is in love with her! The queen won’t have it though and keeps sending her off and killing her (they just get revived at the church for a fee and be alright,worry not) it’s ongoing, what will happen!?

 

Lily (Yy) by Pikapi Comic Team (Yy) – Chinese

Man this one is also so good,   it is currently ongoing, on its second season, yes, these kind of work have seasons, I think it’s been 218 chapters, at the beginning it’s them bonding and the shorter one realizing her feelings sooner, season 2 is about their blooming relationship and moving in together.

 

Lily Love – Ratana Satis- Thai

From left to right we got Ploy, Mew, Donut and Ice (those names…) the main pair is Mew aka blondie and plain Donut, of course the other two end up being involved but worry not, this is a sweet title and the art is quite nice, it ended  which takes us to..

Lily Love 2 : Frosted Jewel also by Ratana Satis and therefore, also Thai duh

Those ones, yes, this is a spin-off and dear lord me, I am loving it, even more so than the original, because I like these two morons better!!! Ice is da bomb and Ploy is the typical jerk with a heart of gold. It is ongoing and I can’t wait for its second season.

 

Blooming Sequence by Lee Eul – Korean

This one is also quite good, the red haired girl meets her sunbae (aka senpai),the taller one at a film club, which is about, duh movies and movie making, there’s of course mysterious ex from the past and all that ,overall is cute and it has the bonus of sharing some info on cool movies.

Tamen de Gushi /Their story – Tan Jiu – Chinese

This is a quite chill story, they meet at school, the taller one with darker hair is totally chill in life as you can see,the shorter blond one is a bit more angsty, as it has to be, this is one of the most fun ones, it’s just hilarious!!

 

A special mention to Fluttering feelings/ exciting feelings, by Ssamba, sadly the author died at 33 leaving this uncomplete, it was really sad to know this.

 

 

 

There’s others, like “The love doctor” and “the third party” but I wasn’t pleased with how they ended so they will not be here, lol. Not that they are bad at any rate! But didn’t catch my heart, damn I loved the third party but that ending… … …. ….  😦
